The Cumming Harvest - Closed:  Weblog Entry

Lots of extra products are available at this time! It’s a great time to buy! Let your friends know how much you love the Cumming Harvest!

This week we launched a brand new product, our CSA boxes. This is a great new way to buy more fresh produce. Each customer last week received a brochure. We will have additional brochures this week. As always any questions or concerns about the CSA boxes please feel free to contact Jaclyn below.

We have had some clients state that they do not receive an email after placing their order, if you are ever worried your order didn’t go through, just reach out to me, I’m happy to check.

Come and pick up your items on Saturday from 10 am until 12 noon. This is a friendly reminder that the market closes at 12 noon sharp on Saturdays. Please arrive no later than 11:50. The volunteers need time to double check all the wonderful items that you purchased.

If there are any questions or concerns about this please feel free to reach out to our market manager.

Thank you, happy shopping!

Fresh Harvest, LLC:  Last Call This Week - Fresh Harvest

Market News

Hello!
We’re at the end of the first planting of tomatoes and other veggies. The second planting should be producing shortly.

The Market will remain open until Tuesday evening for you to place an order for this week.

Here is some information on how Fresh Harvest works.
*If you see an item as Sold Out, write in the Comment section at check out that you would like that item if more becomes available. We’ll try our best to add it to your order.
*PayPal payments have to be manually added to your account. There will be a delay to crediting your account due to me needing to take time to do the bookkeeping. I also have to go to each account with cash or check payments. These are sometimes delayed by procrastination or being busy. You can still place an order even though it may cause your account to be “overdrawn”. There is no penalty for going into the minus column. Sometimes I’m a little slow in getting to the bank to make deposits, but it eventually happens.
• If you recruit a new customer to Fresh Harvest and they open an account with a $50 deposit, we will credit your account $10 for each new customer who signs up. They will need to tell me your name, so that I can credit your account. Word of mouth has been our best advertising. Any help that you can provide is greatly appreciated.
• Every week, we leave orders at the church for customers who cannot arrive at Trinity before 6pm. This has worked well for those who have difficulty with the 4-6pm window. Please let me know if you need me to leave your order at the church.
• The bag that you receive each week is to be brought back with your next order. We have been negligent in telling new customers how this works. Don’t feel bad if you return multiple bags, it happens all the time.
• We’re into reusing and recycling. Our clean egg cartons, honey jars, paper and plastic bags, berry containers are some of the items that we can reuse. If we can’t reuse the returned items, we’ll recycle them.
• We do guarantee everything that we sell. If you ever have a problem, please let us know and we will credit your account.
• If there are other products or growers that you think should be a part of Fresh Harvest, please let me know.

Thanks for your support, and I will see you on Wednesday!

If you need to text me, my number is 615-838-0428.

John

Recipes

Old99Farm Market:  Old 99 Farm, week of Aug 11, 2019

The harvest of beans, cukes, zukes, and greens continues to be lush as it is for carrots, spinach, radicchio, onions, beets and tops, kale, collards.

Please place your order by Thurs evening so I can pick it early Friday before the day gets hot. Produce picked cool and refrigerated soon thereafter keeps longer in your fridge at home.

Who would like to buy homemade burger patties? We had a great response to our recipe at last Friday’s Old Hwy 99 street party. These would be refrigerated not frozen. Price is $4 per patty (1/4lb).

SNIP: Negotiators for the world’s governments signed off on a report Wednesday that describes in alarming detail how agriculture, deforestation and other human impacts on lands are transforming the climate.

From the BBC

SNIP: Increasingly frequent marine heatwaves can lead to the almost instant death of corals, scientists working on the Great Barrier Reef have found. These episodes of unusually high water temperatures are – like heatwaves on land – associated with climate change.

from Science Daily
DATE: August 8, 2019

SNIP: Rivers and lakes cover just about one percent of Earth’s surface, but are home to one third of all vertebrate species worldwide. At the same time, freshwater life is highly threatened. Scientists from the Leibniz-Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB) and international colleagues have now quantified the global decline of big freshwater animals: From 1970 to 2012, global populations of freshwater megafauna declined by 88 percent – twice the loss of vertebrate populations on land or in the ocean.
