New this week: Beyond Organic has Spaghetti squash!

Fayetteville, AR 72703

Thanks!

CLG:  Opening Bell: Butternut, Okra, Potatoes, Honey!

Good afternoon!
Maybe we’ve seen the last of the summer heat. Slightly cooler temperatures have been very welcome and productive for area gardens. Beautiful butternut squash and other fall items are now available from Drewry Orchard. It might be a good idea to get a pie pumpkin and process the pumpkin now for the freezer. Then when you want to make pumpkin pies during the holidays, just defrost a container of pie purée and get out your favorite recipes for pumpkin pie and pumpkin muffins!

Be sure to SEARCH for your favorite items using the search field. We have over 500 items available now!

Most items are listed by 6pm Sunday, but check back again before the market closes Tuesday night to see if any other items are ready to be harvested for you! Eat fresh! Eat local! Eat for better health!

And save your eggshells throughout the week for the laying hens! :-)

The market is now OPEN for orders. Click here to start shopping:

Please check your email a few minutes after you place your order to make sure you get an order confirmation. Thanks!

Stones River Market:  Market is OPEN -- One Market till Labor Day weekend

Welcome to this weeks Market, Open until 10 pm Monday. Order early before quantities available run out!

The Market has everything you’ll need to make the last Summer Holiday special.

It seems like August has flown by, schools are back in session, summer plants are starting to slow down and fall plants are gearing up for the cooler weather. I’ve already seem the change in foliage color and the nights seem a little cooler. Fall and Winter produce is beginning to arrive. Roasted Butternut Squash is sounding really good right now! Enjoy the Market this week and thank you for supporting our local Growers. Share our Market with your friends and family, many ‘live’ markets will be closing soon but our Market is open year around except for a short break around Christmas and New Year.

News from our Growers:

From our Meat Producers: Farrar Farms (Beef), Sow’s Ear Piggery (Pork), Caney Fork Farms (Lamb, Pork) Crossing Creeks Farm (Chicken, Beef), Oakview Farm (Chicken) and Quarter Spring Farm (Chicken) all have some great selections of meats to make your meals great. From Beef, Pork, Lamb and Chicken. Grill, roast, broil, boil…delicious anyway you prepare them.

Caney Fork Farms: Try throwing our tender yellow squash on the grill with some Lamb Chops! Our Smoked Bratwursts are great for school lunches as they don’t need to be cooked! Lettuce is back in stock.

Dogwood Valley Greenhouse: It’s still pretty hot, but the plants know that fall is just around the corner, literally a flip of a calendar page away. The pretty fall bloomers are coming into their own, and will give a great boost to your garden at a time when color can be a little scarce in the perennial garden.

Put together a beautiful fall garden, or fill in a couple of bare spots with fall color. Dogwood Valley Greenhouse has what you need! And with slightly cooler weather and a bit of rain headed our way this week, it will be a good time to plant them.

Carole’s Herbs (CS3 Farms): Try our Wolfberry Mint and Ginger Fig shrubs for a refreshing, nutritious, and tasty drink. Shrubs, sometimes known as tonic or drinking vinegar’s, are good mixed with filtered water, mineral water, kombucha, tea, or your choice of mixed drink. Shrubs have been around for hundreds of years, and have recently been rediscovered due to their natural taste and ingredients and their health benefits. Ours contain only the fruit/herb, vinegar, and Tennessee honey.

Rainbow Hill Farm: Gala, Honeycrisp and Ozark Gold Apples are available this week along with Sweet and Hot peppers, Yellow and Zucchini Squash and Tomatoes.

Flying S Farms: We’ve added Blue Lake Beans, several of our VERY HOT Peppers, Spaghetti Squash, Delicata and Butternut Squash. New Jam – Almost Seedless Black Raspberry Jam, our Grape Jelly, Peach Habanero, Seriously HOT Strawberry, Blueberry Jam are back in stock, will be adding others so be sure to check back.

MARKET CHITCHAT

We’re keeping it short and sweet this week.

THANK YOU to our new vendors and everyone who has tried their products. Up here at the Horton farm we’re super excited to use Bella’s goat milk for our puppies and we’ll be looking for a product review from Mrs. Melody on Casa Perdito’s infused vinegars in the near future. Your Market Manager wound up with one of Bella Eden’s heavenly bath salts and hopes to give my poor feet a mini vacation with it later today.

A big shout out to Susan Avello, our own dear Lean Bean Chef for sharing goodies from one of her cooking classes on Friday. We seriously had no idea plain Instant Pot rice could be turned into a gourmet treat.

So thankful for Avalon Farms and Grier Acres having late summer produce. Danny is harvesting every other week right now and expects to be back to weekly production late September. Those of us who understand the dynamics of growing lettuce know how amazing it is that his even survive this time of year!

Most of all we appreciate YOU. Friday’s right now tend to be hot and dusty but getting to serve our wonderful customers makes it all worthwhile. You guys have weathered all kind of weather and ups and downs with us and have become great friends in the process.

THIS WEEK’S GROWER NOTES

Know someone who wants fresh food? Spread the word. Put the two together, and that’s growing organically!
