Middle Tennessee Locally Grown:  Time to Order Fresh Local Farm Products!

Middle Tennessee Locally Grown market

Farm News of the Week

CS3 Farms sends some news:
Get a bottle of our Shrubs for a salad dressing, refreshing drink or dessert enhancement. We have several: Ginger Fig, Crimson Passion and Wolfberry Mint, each available in two sizes on the market.

Dogwood Valley Greenhouse also has two new seasonal items listed:

The first Christmas cacti are now in bloom and available for purchase. I’ll make them available as they come into bloom. Right now I have several red ones and one lone white one, but will have a couple more white and maybe some pink in a week or two. The different colors bloom at slightly different times. If you want a specific color, email me and request a hold on the next one to come into bloom. Wrapped in florist paper, these will make a nice addition to your Thanksgiving table or a much-enjoyed hostess gift.

For your Christmas decorations: our beautifully decorated baskets of live greens, matching the kissing balls and wreaths, with pine cones, locust pods, faux red berries and a big florist bow. Place an order now with a $10 deposit; the balance of $15 will be due upon delivery.

Deposits are now due for:

Nature’s Wealth’s pasture raised turkeys for Thanksgiving! Take the stress out of Thanksgiving preparations by placing your online pre-order today!

Dogwood Valley Greenhouse is still taking orders for Christmas wreaths and kissing balls for an early-to-mid December delivery. First come, first served, and when I run out of materials, I’ll have to stop making them. Therefore, I’d recommend you place your order soon. Decorating made easy this year with your online order now!

Athens Locally Grown:  ALG Reminder: We are closed this week!

Hi there! This is just a reminder that Athens Locally Grown will be closed this week to allow us all to celebrate Thanksgiving. If you need a last minute item from our local farmers, Heirloom Cafe on Chase Street will be hosting a mini version of the Athens Farmers Market from 11-2 on Wednesday.

If you’re still looking for inspiration and recipes, of course the internet has no shortage of Thanksgiving suggestions. Here are some of my favorites that I return to every year:

I am very thankful for all the food options available to us provided by members of our community who care about the health of both the people eating the food they provide and the land from which it came from. And I find it very fitting that I get to express these thanks via a meal made from that very same food.

Thanks also to you, and happy Thanksgiving! We’ll see you in two weeks.
