Lake Placid Online Farmer's Market:  Organic eggs available this week

Late note – Beth just let us know that with the lousy, icy weather last week they have some extra eggs (fed certified organic feed, wintered in a large hoophouse) so she has listed them for us!

We have been wanting Rehoboth Homestead’s eggs again but their winter farmstore has been taking them all. The icy weather gives us a chance at her great eggs.

Thank you Beth!

GFM :  New Additions & Vendors

We have more New Vendors, who will be selling both here online and at our physical Farmers Market, which opens May 11, at the Doak House Museum, 690 Erwin Hwy, on Tusculum University Campus.

Things change weekly, some vendors go on vacation, some things are sold, so check the list each week for updates.

Order from our vendors here on line now, and beat the rush.  Get to know each vendor, what they stand for, what they sell ’BEFORE" the physical market opens.

WHEN THE PYHSICAL MARKET OPENS: Pre-ordering here, makes sure that what you want is held JUST FOR YOU, and not sold out before you get a chance to make it to the market.

Sincerely,

The Vendors, Market, & Staff of GFM

Champaign, OH:  Monday Mania!

It’s Monday, again, and I am sure it’s the usual maniac, mentally exhausting, mania that usually accompanies a Monday.

When, suddenly, you are lulled out of that blissful weekend cocoon of no worries, no phone calls, no emails, and maybe even secret Netflix binging…oh, wait, maybe that’s my Sunday…shhhhhh. Anyway, you know the feeling. The morning hits you like a ton of bricks, and you are off and running.

Let us do your legwork, while you take care of the rest. Throw us your orders, and before you know it, the weekend cocoon will be back…your week just got easier, and you can thank me, always…

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

Market News

It’s been a slow news week here, so I don’t have much to share with you. The weather is turning just right for all the spring veggies out in the fields, with a nice mix of sun, clouds, and rain. The temperature fluctuations have been crazy, but the leafy greens enjoy that, as it lets them get quick growth on the warmer days and concentrated flavor from the cold. Looks like we’ll be in for more of the same for at least the next week or so!

Thank you so much for your support of Athens Locally Grown, all of our growers, local food, and our rights to eat it. You all are part of what makes Athens such a great area in which to live. We’ll see you on Thursday at Ben’s Bikes at the corner of Pope and Broad Streets from 4:30 to 8pm!

Other Area Farmers Markets

Most other area markets are starting to close down for the season or move to winter hours. The Athens Farmers Market will return in the Spring. You can catch the news on their website. The West Broad Farmers Market is closed for the season, and you can watch for their return here: http://www.athenslandtrust.org/west-broad-farmers-market/. The Comer Farmers’ Market is open on Saturday mornings from 9am to noon. Check www.facebook.com/comerfm for more information. Washington, GA also has a lovely little Saturday market, running on winter hours now on Saturdays from 1-4pm. Folks to the east can check out the Hartwell Farmers Market, which starts bright and early on Saturday morning from 7am to noon, and Tuesday afternoons from noon to 4pm. You can learn all about them here: www.washingtonfarmersmkt.com. If you know of any other area markets operating, please let me know.

All of these other markets are separate from ALG (including the Athens Farmers Market) but many growers sell at multiple markets. Please support your local farmers and food producers, where ever you’re able to do so!

We thank you for your interest and support of our efforts to bring you the healthiest, the freshest, and the most delicious locally-produced foods possible!
