Good morning!
The market is open for ordering this morning, as usual. Please remember to check for new items in all the categories, since I haven’t checked through to see what’s new. (I think there are a few returning items in the fresh cut herbs.) I will try to get a newsletter out Sunday or Monday. Feel free to place your order early, and then add a second order if you see something else that you like. Thank you, and see you Thursday or Friday at your choice of pickup location.
Please bless your managers (who donate their time) and farmers, and forward this message to at least one friend who might be interested in encouraging local small business!
Blessings,
Linda & Michael

Special Announcement
Ketosis Part II
Market Chitchat
Grower Notes
KETO SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS
This is part 2 of understanding the Keto Diet.
Is a keto diet safe?
A keto diet is usually very safe. However, in the following three situations you may need extra preparation or adaptation:
- Are you on medication for diabetes, e.g. insulin?
- Are you on medication for high blood pressure?
- Are you breastfeeding?
If you’re not in one of these situations, you should do fine on a keto diet, without needing any special modifications.
Note that there’s no shortage of myths and misunderstandings about keto that frighten children and grownups alike. If you’re worrying about something in particular, do further research. A keto diet is usually very safe. But be aware of the three situations above, i.e. medication for diabetes or blood pressure, or breastfeeding.
Is a keto diet safe for the kidneys?
Yes. People often wonder about this, because of the belief that a diet high in protein could be harmful for the kidneys. However, this fear is simply based on two misunderstandings:
1. A keto diet is high in fat, not protein.
2. People with normal kidney function handle excessive protein just fine. Those who may not should consult their doctor.
Thus, there’s no reason to worry. In fact, a keto diet may even be protective of your kidneys, especially if you have diabetes.
Next week’s installment will cover more safety considerations.
MARKET CHITCHAT
It was great having Harry Grier (Grier Acres) with us yesterday in the Market Shed. We always appreciate the “hands on” on Friday mornings and I know it was nice for many of you to put a face with the name.
As mentioned in last week’s newsletter Viki will be managing the Market Sept 20 and Sept 27 in Roz’s absence.
THIS WEEK’S GROWER NOTES
We have the best Growers in the Wiregrass! Please learn more about them on our Grower Page.
DANNY’S GREENS: Danny is taking a break to give his plants time to catch up. The recent heat has been very hard on them despite receiving the best tlc possible.
GRIER ACRES: Grier Acres: Jeannie was so glad Harry got to participate in the pickup on Friday while she worked at her new job. Harry really enjoyed meeting all the folks. Harry just took our items and we sold it as table sales-we were out of town and was concerned about listing.
Jeannie has gotten 8 new chickens and hopes this will expand her egg business. She thinks her others are getting older as she only gets on average 3-4 eggs per hen and has 6 hens. These are baby chicks about 2 months old. Jeannie has also obtained an orphan chicken who was injured and is taking care of it this weekend. She hopes to add to our flock and just save it in general. We hope all of you have a restful weekend.

Good afternoon!
It’s Fair Week! The Faulkner County fair will be held at the Conway expo center this week starting Wednesday at 9am. You can check out all the happenings on this website: http://www.faulknercountyfair.net
Several of our farm families will be busy at the fair and not able to list their products this week. Fair week is a very busy time where our growers can display the results of their hard work. Plan to go to the fair at least once this week to look around. Admission is always free, and parking is only $5 per vehicle.
Take a look at all the egg options this week. There’s a good variety in different price ranges.
We’ve been having a lot of excellent items on the extra table lately. Earlier shoppers get the best selection. We are normally ready for customers to start arriving around 3 PM if you happen to be out and in the area. Just text me to see if we’re ready.
Be sure to SEARCH for your favorite items using the search field. Four instance, type in the word “sale”and see what pops up. We have over 550 items available now!
Most items are listed by 6pm Sunday, but check back again before the market closes Tuesday night to see if any other items are ready to be harvested for you! Eat fresh! Eat local! Eat for better health!
And save your eggshells throughout the week for the laying hens! :-)
The market is now OPEN for orders. Click here to start shopping:

We’ve got so many greens coming in – bok chois of all kinds, mustards, lettuce mix and tokyo bekana. Great for salads and stir fries and the transition into fall foods.
We’ve also got several different radishes, great sliced thinly and added to salads or even better pickled to add to dishes over the next few months!
Can’t forget about the hakurei turnips to add to salads or the shishitos (in case you haven’t had enough of these this summer, now’s the time!)
As always, thanks for your support.

Thank you for choosing Northeast Georgia Locally Grown as a way to support your local producers. This online farmers market allows you to buy directly from multiple farms committed to chemical-free and local produce all year long! CHEMICAL-FREE means produce and pastures grown without synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides. LOCAL means within 80 miles from the market pickup locations (usually much much closer). Do you know someone who grows chemical-free food in the area? Get them in touch with us. Know someone who wants fresh food? Spread the word. Put the two together, and that’s growing organically!
PICKUP TIME is Wednesday from 5-6:30 p.m.
If you do not get an email ORDER CONFIRMATION right after you order then your order is NOT complete. Log back in and your order might still be there waiting for you to check out! If you have any trouble or questions at all, we are here to help; simply reply to this email or call Andrew at 770.530.3287
