Lathemtown Farm Fresh Market:  This Week at the Market

Good monring Well, we will still have peppers, and eggplant coming in, and possibly a small amount of figs, but the gardens have really not done well this year. Deer are back to their antics, dodging my booby traps to keep them from the tomatoes. I’ve had 30 plants and so few make it ripe bfore they’ve stolen them :( The cucumbers were coming back and the deer knocked over the trellis and ate the whole lot!
Herbs are still going strong and I’m hoping to get greens planted for fall. I will put netting over the whole lettuce bed so they should be safe.
To supplement the stand, I will be up in North GA for a feed run and am going to stop into the apple orchards. They have Detroit Reds, Gala, and Ginger Gold available. So on your way to pick up orders, stop in the stand for apples!
Have a great week!
Farmher Chef Amy

Shopping at RCM this week definitely makes me hungry for some of these amazing foods and dream of the fantastic dishes I could create! There are all kinds of fresh peppers this week; maybe some fajita meat from R&D or Kabob cubes from C3 Beef would go great with those colorful peppers! You could throw in some fresh squash, too, or fry up some okra to go with your meals! Don’t miss the fruit category this week… Justin’s Produce has a super selection of watermelons from Cave City red to yellow, seedless red, and orange crush from Dumas! Get your favorite one to enjoy while they are in season! Welcome back to Meadowlark; we are excited to see their Mediterranean herb cheese, fresh ricotta and three flavors of their homemade ice cream for you to choose from! There are lots of fresh herbs to enhance your meat and vegatable choices! I bet some fresh basil leaves from Hoof Hollow Hobbies or Bluff Top would be amazing with Meadowlark’s fresh cheeses or possibly a great addition to a simple and fresh pasta dish with some of Wild Hare’s homemade pasta! The Fortunate Mushroom has oyster mushrooms and Lion’s Mane available this week; there are so many delicious things you could make with them! There are tons of homemade cookie choices to help fill lunchboxes with unique treats! Weatherford Family Farm has some great cookies like butter pecan or M&M and this week you can try her new garlic parmesan and jalapeno cheddar bread twists! If you are stocked up on bagels, make sure to try one of Maple Brook’s sourdough loaf varieties! Try a fresh ham steak from Bluff Top and some mild or bold breakfast sausage from Porch Swing Farms. Don’t overlook the processed foods category; this is where you will find tasty BBQ sauces, pickles and more! There are so many amazing flavors, meal inspirations, sweet treats and special gifts! Safe and Sound Soap Co.:

I have some brand new Laundry Soap scents this week!! I have been working on these scents for a while now. I’ve taken them with me to a couple of Pop Ups and they have done very well! These new Laundry Soaps are scented with my non-toxic fragrance oils. They are high quality, vegan, phthalate and paraben free, and formulated for sensitive skin! I have Sea Breeze, Clean Cotton, and Honeysuckle Breeze. All three of these scents will leave your clothes smelling amazing, without all of the toxic chemicals found in most scented laundry soaps. And, if you want to add extra scent to your clothes, you can also purchase my new Laundry Booster! This is made with sodium carbonate to add an extra deodorizing boost to your laundry routine. Just sprinkle a scoop (or two) on top of your clothes before starting your washing machine and let this booster powder deodorize your laundry and leave your clothes smelling so clean and fresh! I have these available in the same scents as the new Laundry Soap scents.
Don’t forget about my other all natural non toxic household products. My hand soaps and cleaning sprays are a great place to start if you’ve been looking for locally made non-toxic products. I’m also fully stocked in all of my Car Air Freshener scents! Grab one for yourself or for a friend! These Air Fresheners are the perfect gift as well.

They are cooked with caramelized onions and bacon and stewed in southern spices and flavors. Our special pasta dish for the week is chicken and pesto lasagna. It is a pesto based sauce lasagna, there are also sun dried tomatoes, prosciutto, and all of the delicious cheeses you would enjoy. These will be served as individual slices and will come in a bed of marinara sauce. We will also have two of my most popular dishes available as well being the cornbread Salad and Pimento Cheese.
