Foothills Market:  The Market is Open!

Foothills Market is open for one last week before the Clarksville-Johnson County Community Market starts up downtown on May 4. We have the usual selection of meats, eggs, and fresh greens for salads and sides.

Shop the market between now and Wednesday at 5 p.m., make your selections, and click the “Place your order” button. We’ll have your order ready for pick-up on Thursday afternoon.

Just to repeat – this will be the last week for ordering through Foothills Market until September when the in-person market closes.

Eat something fresh this week!

Yalaha, FL:  Kale still on sale but the season will soon end.

Order now through 5 pm Thursday April 25th for Saturday April 27th Pickup, (or contact me if you want a different day, we do have some flexibility.) Again this week Friday may be best or early Sat Morning.

Remember to tell me when you want to pick up!

Calendula flowers are available (let me know if I should add them to the market) Eddible and/or medicinal. I haven’t done pictures to make the listing but they are Bright Orange.

Let me know if you are interested in getting fresh cultures for Kombucha, Milk Kefir, or Water Kefir. My Kefir grains especially have been growing fast. The Kombucha scoby is a little slower about it.

Please let me know what micro greens or shoots you are interested in and I can start growing enough to make them available (most take less than 2 weeks.)
Also, if you want me to list super foods like Purslane, let me know, I have it volunteering wild here and I also have nettles this season.

If you have any particular requests, let me know I’m happy to grow to order.

Sign in to order. https://yalaha.locallygrown.net/market

You have to sign in to see the add to cart button. Then set the number and click the add to cart button on the items you want to buy (it is the little picture right next to the quantity box.) Remember you need to check out before your order will be placed.
Remember to let me know when you want to pick up on Sat or maybe even Friday late afternoon or on Sunday. (If I don’t send you an e-mail confirmation of your order and pick up time, please make sure you checked out and completed your order.)

CLG:  Opening Bell: Swiss Chard, Eggs, Strawberries, Shiitake!

Good afternoon!
Excellent weather provided the perfect environment for a wonderful community get together Saturday at the second annual plant sale at Bell urban Farm. Hundreds of people came out to pour over the thousands of potted herb, flower, and vegetable plants offered this year. It was wonderful to see so many people interacting and sharing tips and ideas with other home gardeners. There were lots of kids and college students also planting their first vegetables. Thanks to Kim and Zack for hosting such a well-planned event. Stay tuned to mark your calendar for the date of the third annual plant sale at Bell Urban Farm, coming in spring 2020.

Strawberries! I was talking with Bobby on Friday and he thinks that St. Joseph urban farm will keep harvesting strawberries for several more weeks.

This is barbecue weather! Plan to grill for dinner one day this week by getting some delicious local meat. Lots of great bratwurst, chops, and beef available now.

We have quite a few flower, herb, and vegetable plants available. Use keyword: PLANT to see what we have.

Be sure to SEARCH for your favorite items using the search field. We have over 700 items available now!

Most items are listed by 6pm Sunday, but check back again before the market closes Tuesday night to see if any other items are ready to be harvested for you! Eat fresh! Eat local! Eat for better health!

And save your eggshells throughout the week for the laying hens! :-)

The market is now *OPEN *for orders. Click here to start shopping:

Please check your email a few minutes after you place your order to make sure you get an order confirmation. Thank you!

Stones River Market:  Happy Easter and the Market is Open

Good Easter Morning to everyone. The Market is open until Monday evening at 10pm. Many items have limited quantities so be sure to place your order early so you don’t miss out.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS: May 22nd we will be having a ‘Meet and Greet’ Our Grower event. Several of our Growers will have tables set up with items and information about them. Last years event was a hit and many have asked for it again.

True sign of Spring was a surprise arrival of Strawberries from_* 6R Farms*_ at delivery last week. They are on the market today. Available in gallon buckets or by the quart box.

We have several New Growers being added to the Market, RnR Farms have beautiful bagged lettuce on the Market this week.

Oakview Farm and Spring Meadow Farm will soon have their items available. Few more Growers are currently being reviewed for the Market. We are very excited seeing our Market Growing, please share the Market with your family and friend. Be sure to follow us on Facebook also.

There are New Items and returning items are arriving on the Market, notice the the ’What’s New’ section and ‘Feature Section’. Remember you can also do a search, type in what you are looking for and if it is available it will pop up for you.

From Our Growers:

Dogwood Valley Greenhouse: It’s tomato and pepper plant time in Tennessee! We’re officially nearing our “average date of last frost,” which I’m told on the mountain is April 28. It’s been basically an “early spring,” which to me means the ground may be warmer than usual. So I think it will be safe to plant tomatoes and peppers by May 1, and the ground should be warm enough then to encourage growth. I would suggest purchasing your tomato plants this week and keeping them in the pots, in or near your garden area, for another week so that you can bring them inside if we hit another cold night (after 4/20, which I know will be cold). Heirloom tomato varieties I have this year are: Brandywine, Supersweet 100 Cherry, Mortgage Lifter, Mr. Stripey, Rutgers, and Beefmaster. Pepper varieties are: Purple Beauty, Sweet Banana, and California Wonder. Please just order “a tomato plant” from the market and write a comment to me concerning which variety(s) you would like. I will get them all listed separately sometime tonight or tomorrow if you prefer to wait.

I’ve also updated quantities and availability on all the perennials, herbs, and hanging baskets. You will notice several newly available now, and a couple of new-to-market additions within a week or so.

Flying S Farms: We will be continuing our ‘Eggstatic Eggstravaganza’ for a while longer while our Egg Production is high, the ladies are really enjoying the cooler weather. Buy 2 dozen or more and receive a $1 off per dozen at delivery. This week we have our beautiful Bibb Lettuces available along with Green Garlic and Bunching Onions. Swiss Chard and Bok Choy is also available.

Carole’s Herbs (CS3 Farms): In honor of National Tea Day, April 21st, we have reduced our Black China and Gunpowder Green Tea, along with many of the simple herbal teas (tisanes) to $4 per bag. Additionally, our herbal teas/tisanes have been reduced to $5.

See you “On the Porch” at Quinn’s Mercantile Wednesday April 24th from 5:00 – 6:30pm, please contact me if you are unable to make delivery or are running late, please phone, email or text me so we can make arrangements to get your order to you.

Good morning!

Happy Easter! He is risen!

Short and sweet this morning. The market is open for ordering. Sorry, I really need to grab a few hours of sleep before getting up early to deal with our Easter dinner preps before church. I will try very hard to send out an actual newsletter this evening or Monday – but in the meantime, please scroll through the categories. I’ve edited them down a bit for easier searching, but please let me know if you can’t find something you know was “right there.” Please check especially the vegetables and the live plants. Both have been substantially updated.

Don’t forget about our Tullahoma Friday pickup location, if that’s more convenient for you. Please encourage your Tullahoma area friends to check out our fantastic market!

Blessings,
Linda & Michael

Here is the complete list for this week.

Dothan, Alabama:  April 20, 2019 M@D Abbreviated Newsletter

A FEW QUICK NOTES

Thank you for your patience and understanding that Market At Dothan did not send out a “proper” newsletter earlier today. Sometimes life just takes over and such was the case. Nothing went exactly as planned or expected, yet when it counted we were exactly when and where we needed to be. No doubt if you’ve lived long enough you’ve experienced something similar!

We don’t want to take a lot of your time so this week’s M@D notes will be brief:

1. Avalon Farms will continue to list products on the Market website the next couple of weeks but Wendy will not be making deliveries to Daleville or Enterprise. If you live in one of those areas do not fear! We are making arrangements to cover that and will notify you who to look for and if there are any adjustments in the schedule.

2. Welcome back Sweet Acre Farm!. Our new customers may not be familiar with these great folks but they are sweet Market friends of many years and we’re excited to have them listing again. This week they have Little Gem Romaine Lettuce, Thyme, Spearmint, Peppermint, Oregano, Endive and Ready-to-use Powdered Turmeric!

3. We missed updating Danny’s Greens before 5 pm so if you can’t live without his lettuce it has been relisted along with more green onions and CARROTS.

So that’s it! Have a blessed Easter and we look forward to seeing you next week!
